Ranking For Free Book Reviews

A common SEO method is to change the title of your WordPress blog to a keyword or phrase you are trying to rank for. Griz just recently created a post talking about this very thing on his How To Make Money Online For Beginners Blog, on this post he challenged us to do so.
I recently started a free book review section and thought I would attempt to rank for Free Book Reviews. Apparently this is a very competitive keyword and I currently rank number 502 for this term. Don’t be confused if you see Free Book Reviews where It’s Write Now used to be. It’s just an experiment with my ranking efforts.
Although, if I actually ranked well for free book reviews, I will probably have to take on some guest posters to help with all of the review requests. But for now let’s see how it goes.
Update:
Alright I probably don’t have to tell you guys this, but Griz was right. I changed my title from It’s Write Now to Free Book Reviews this morning and as of this evening (just a few hours later) my ranking went from 502 to about 150, just wait till I get some links.

These ranks your talking about. Where do you get these numbers. I don’t much care about my personal blog, but for Amie St. Music Wednesday. It seems that I need to work on branding ASMW, so I guess I need to pay attention to SEO stuff now.

I’m talking about in Google search. I put free book reviews in google, and I set the search preferences to 100. Then I just quickly scroll through till I see my link. I’m still new at finding the right search terms. But the way to get traffic and promote a site is to find something that people are searching for, and then work on it until you rank number 1 and almost all of the search traffic will be yours. For instance for Amie Street you could try to rank for that, or for music downloads, or free music downloads. You cold use googles free tool:

To find terms people are searching for. Choose one then use that term in post titles and throughout some posts. Then get links pointing back to your site or post using that term and you should start to move up in the rankings. Then eventually when people search they will find you. There are tons of books and blogs written about this and I’m still new, but that’s the general idea.

Since answering your question I did another search and couldn’t find my site under that term. So rankings are changing and they will go up and down for awhile until google figures out where our sites should fit in. But that’s the general idea.
I did some looking through my Awstats and come to find out I rank second for Amie Street promo code. Though I have deleted that page that was on now, I’m sure that I will drop in no time flat. But I do have a link that is better than that. So that is kewl.
