Blogging Reality……

In spite of all of the claims of people making blogging fortunes working 2 hours a day. Creating a successful blog takes a lot of work. I’ve learned so much creating this blog.

Yet I feel like I’m only scratching the surface. Previously, I’ve talked about some of the technical issues I want to learn more about.

I spend a lot of time reading other blogs. There is so much good info out there. I found this article by Steve Olson.

I’m not even close to attracting the traffic he has. Although I’ve read most of the blogs he’s talked about. But the one thing he did that I havn’t done yet is:“ participate in and submit tosocial web 2.0 sites (Reddit, Digg, Delicious, Netscape, Stumble Upon) and blog carnivals.”

To attract visitors the marketing has to be there. You need to get the word out. Then when the visitors show up. You have to have enough content to make them want to come back and read more.

What I hope to create is some really helpful how tos, and reference pages, interspersed with some creative and entertaining articles.

Creating all of this takes that super precious commodity time. The thing we all have and yet all lack. Therefore I may give up my post a day for 30 days plan. I will still be working on the blog.

I can’t abandon my first real domain.  But I may need to spend time on some longer cornerstone articles that may take awhile to perfect. And I want to do some more customization on the site.

Plus as the blog evolves I may need to narrow, widen, or change the scope of the site. I have noticed that when I don’t post everyday I lose subscribers.

I think at this point, I just need to worry about getting the site organized and filled with content. Then worry about the traffic a little later in the game.

For those of you who have been reading along. And especially for those who have subscribed (Mom I didn’t know you knew what a feed was). Thank-you so much.

It’s a very good feeling to create something of your own and know other people are reading your work. And getting comments, (especially the ones that are nice) totally rocks.

It’s possible, I may yet reach my 30 day goal, just because I may not be able to help myself. Maybe just the type of posts will change. Have a great day.
