And the first step of SEO is always keyword research. When I write content, I always start with a set of keywords (long tail and short tail) that resulted from the research. Then I write the article, content page, etc around those words. I think density is highly overrated, but the placement of the keyword on a page is very important. Keywords are the basis of SEO.
