Anyone in the writing market knows that aside from a basic entry fee, nearly all publications will send you the issue/print with your piece for <b>free</b>. Poetry.com also participates in scamming people to come to "writing conferences" or "award ceremonies", which can cost thousands of dollars for the writer. In effect, they are a vanity publisher, but the way they advertise it is misleading and dangerous, especailly for any up and coming writer. They have been reported on ABC's 20/20 program and a simple google search of "poetry.com scam" will bring up tons of results.
