WebFerret Makes Searching Fun!
Emma | Jan 09, 2008 | Comments 7
I was recently doing some maintenance on my PC, and found some old files, from a program I used to love. Before I jumped on the Google train, I would always use WebFerret for my searches. WebFerret is search software that queries multiple search engines in parallel, providing comprehensive results in seconds.
I know sometimes when I can’t find what I want in Google I’ll try Yahoo and on from there. Now that I’ve rediscovered my little ferret friend I can search multiple search engines quickly and painlessly. I believe I lost contact with my ferret friend when they switched to a paid only version a few years ago.
Well WebFerret is back with a new upgraded free version. Packed with options from choosing search engines used, and number of results returned, to create your own filters. You can also enable duplicate content removal and keyword suggestions. WebFerret is really great for fast, flexible, customized searches.
I’m glad I rediscovered WebFerret. I’ve missed the fast, comprehensive searches. One caveat, when you install the software it gives you a lot of options for installing the toolbar and having shortcuts, etc. I unchecked everything but a desktop shortcut. Even though, I have two 20″ monitors I don’t need another toolbar taking up screen space.
Here is the link to download WebFerret. Enjoy!

Thanks Krishnan.
Hello,
I was looking through your site and i noticed the ad for Poetry.com.
Poetry.com is a well-known scam. It advertises itself as a writing contest, but in actuality almost every entrant becomes a “semi-finalist” or “finalist”.
They then send you a letter about this. However, to be printed in their “collection” (which is actually hundreds of poems crammed into paper-thin page books), you have to pay them a fee. Anyone in the writing market knows that aside from a basic entry fee, nearly all publications will send you the issue/print with your piece for free.
Poetry.com also participates in scamming people to come to “writing conferences” or “award ceremonies”, which can cost thousands of dollars for the writer.
In effect, they are a vanity publisher, but the way they advertise it is misleading and dangerous, especailly for any up and coming writer. They have been reported on ABC’s 20/20 program and a simple google search of “poetry.com scam” will bring up tons of results.
Please, don’t support a writing scam.

@Treatinfamy, Thank-you, the offending ad is removed. Maybe I’ll remove all ads from this site. I’m still experimenting.
That used to be my tool of choice when searching used to be 10% typing terms into a search engine and 90% searching the results. But I was a relentless searcher.
