Increase Subscriber Count And Make Money Online

One of the things, I plan on working on in the future is my subscriber count. I was waiting until I passed 100 to display the feedburner chicklet. I know, there are a lot of tips and tricks to getting people to subscribe. And, yes I’m aware that having good content and getting traffic is important for the subscriber count.

I’ve been blogging and reading blogs for several months now. One thing I’ve noticed is that once the subs seem to pass 200 or so they start to grow faster, pass 500 next step is almost 900. One blog that is newer than mine but has had astronomical subscriber success is Caroline Middlebrook. She’s had a few lucky breaks, but she’s also put in countless hours of hard work and research.

Some of her articles are so well researched and so thoroughly written that I’ve yet to finish one. I’m not insulting you Caroline. Your blog is much more successful than mine, and I may even be a bit jealous, that I don’t have those amazing cornerstone, flagship articles you have, because, I’m too lazy to write one.

Back to my subscribers. I was thrilled each time my count grew from 1 to 3 to 6. Each little increment was amazing, when I started this blog. 50 was a milestone, I was glad to have reached. But I have been stuck with a subscriber count in the 60′s to 70′s recently. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate each and every one of you. I still find it amazing that people read my writing.

What’s the best way to get subscribers? Emulate someone else’s success.! Caroline’s success has been phenomenal. So I decided to go back to the beginning of her blog and see if I could discover her secret. I did discover that she is very honest and I admire her transparency in blogging. I also discovered, that she participated in the 30 Day Challenge.

I did as well. So I understand some of her techniques. Although, I haven’t followed them either. I believe her success was from writing some very thorough and well researched articles, and going the extra mile and networking like crazy. She also had some luck and caught the eye of the big blogger’s who gave her enough publicity that people checked out her site, wanted to know more, and subscribed.

Another thing I discovered from her site is that she has a podcast and a cool English accent. Unfortunately, I have neither. I also discovered a link to an article on Rosalind Gardner’s blog Net Profits Today, that Caroline pointed out.

I would love to emulate the popularity and success of Caroline Middlebrook’s blog. I also thought Rosalind Gardner made some interesting points. Such as:

I recommend monetizing a new site with Google Adsense until you start earning a sufficient income from your product recommendations to warrant its removal.

Before you sit down at your computer to work, pick your topic for the day and create a bullet list of the most important items you want to cover. Then, before you check your email, the latest Google Alerts or your feedreader, open up your text editor and flesh those points into an article. Only then should you open a browser to surf for more information and statistics if required… not before.

Approaching your content development in that manner will save you hours and hours (even days) of time and ultimately results in more content to monetize.

Write to sell. Much of your informational content should be written with a product in mind – I.e. to drive traffic to your product recommendations.

To me it makes much more sense to spend an hour building a PPC campaign that targets customers with fat wallets who want to buy dating service memberships, travel gear and the other stuff I sell on my affiliate sites, than giving free advice on other webmasters’ forums (that what my blog is for) just for the sake of a few backlinks.

Furthermore, that hour invested in a PPC campaign has a long term payoff. I have campaigns and keywords that have been in place since 1999 that just keep sending my sites traffic and resulting in sales.

Like everyone else, my time is limited. So I really like Rosalind Gardner’s get down to business and make money method. I’ll definitely be checking out more of her work.  After all, making money is our ultimate goal. Besides working on my subscriber count, money making posts are my next two projects so I thought both of these blogs tie in well.

I really do believe that there is a lot of money to be made online. Although, with the recent Google penalties doing it with a make money blogging niche blog, has gotten a little more difficult. This may be one of my longest posts yet. Thanks for the inspiration Caroline Middlebrook. If anyone has any comments on the state of the make money online blogs, I’d love to hear about it.
