Ankesh Kothari has a great post about writing one post a day. He uses bullet points to emphasize the fact that:
- Writing
- Is
- Hard
- Work
I thought this was a clever use of bullet points, and I agree that it is easier to write 1 post a day than 3 a week. I also believe in the power of habit. Thanks Ankesh, Great blog.
It takes about 30 days of doing something, for it to become a habit. If I create a blog post every morning for 30 days it will not only be a habit, but I’ll have 30 posts.
Recently there have been a lot of salary surveys going around on the Internet. Another possible motivation for continuing to write can be possible income. It amazes me what these people have accomplished with their earnings. I admit that when I first started thinking about blogging I had dollar signs in my eyes. But I’m not sure my humble little writing forum is going to be a huge money maker. Although I think it will be a great learning experience for me and could lead to other more profitable ventures.
My Blog Motivators
-
It’s an outlet for creative expression.
-
My writing and communication skills are improving.
-
It gives me a sense of accomplishment.
-
I like having my own project.
-
It develops discipline & positive habits.
-
I think it’s fun.
-
I get to network with like minded people.
-
I get to express myself.
-
It’s mine.
As time goes by I’m sure my motivations will change, but for now I am enjoying the challenge and I want to see where it takes me.
