There has recently been a rash of people selling their blogs. So that got me to thinking. What is my blog really worth? I found this worth estimator at Dane Carlson’s Weblog.
Here are my results:

How much is your blog worth?
That will show those people, who roll their eyes when I tell them, I spent my weekend working on my blog. Seriously, my blog and I have a kind of love/hate relationship. Well, mostly love. But if someone made that offer I would consider breaking up.
Actually the true indicator of monetary worth is what someone else is willing to pay. This is true whether your selling lemonade or real estate. But then, not all worth is measured in cash value. Making money blogging is kind of a bonus. The real worth is creating something you can be proud of. Happy blogging.

I would be interested to see how accurate this actually is. I created a blog on the side that is apparently worth $6k. It would be awesome if I could sell it for that, but I’m not banking on it either. What goes into this algorithm?

I don’t know the algorithm, but I don’t think it is very accurate. 100,000$ I wish! I posted this just for fun. I’ve heard a good metric of your blogs worth is 10-15 times your monthly income. Matt over at Blog About Your Blog has been writing about this lately. Also a Blog called Blogging Fingers just sold on Sitepoint for 6000. So that’s probably more of the going rate. The cool thing though is that after all of those gazillion hours spent blogging it is possible to get a small monetary return when moving to the next project. Who knew?

That technorati one is rather flawed. http://smartpagerank.com uses a much better formula, and they put google.com around 2.25 billion.

Hi Ryan, Smart Page Rank just said my blog was worth 7.8 million. Wow, that’s even better!
