It’s Funny You Mentioned Page Rank…….

The big talk around the web lately has been Google page rank. With rumors about penalties and big blogs getting PR lowered and new algorithms and Google doing away with PR and you name it.
From what I could tell my Google bar went from saying no page rank available to PR 0. Everyone has been talking about their rank changing so I thought Google had finally did the update and gave me a 0.
I was bummed but I thought maybe I was one of the people being penalized and that’s why I had a zero. Yesterday when I was checking Website Grader it said I had a page rank of 4, but my toolbar still said 0.
Now I thought for sure I must of been penalized. I even had a dream about finally getting some page rank. Then this morning when I started working on my site I noticed a green bar.
I kept checking it to see if it would go away. Nope, Google finally did a page rank update on my site, and my PR 0 is now PR 4. Yay! I’ve noticed some of my contemporaries who had 0′s have 4′s as well. I guess page rank really does exist.

Nice to see your getting some PR. I guess Google did the toolbar update as well? Usually the toolbar wont show the update until a couple months later.
Thanks Perros, I’m happy with it.
Good deal on the increase in PR. It is amazing to see the changes on the sites I frequent. I thought I would escape the mess, but I was lowered from a 5 to a 4.
It will be interesting to find out the truth behind all of the changes!
Maybe their still adjusting it, who knows? By the way Congratulations on getting the about.com position. I actually applied to be one of their guides, before I started blogging and got rejected. The good thing about it was I discovered what a blog was and started this site.
Emma
Thanks so much for the link to my site. I hope my blog doesn’t disappoint you.
Your welcome! Congratulations on your new page rank as well.
Take Care, Emma
Congrats on your 4!
Thanks Deron!
First of… Congrats!
Well I guess the only use of Google PR is for the purpose of advertisers. I guess PR does not effect where the site appears in the search results coz one of my blogs has a PR of 2 but appears on the number 1 position for many keywords, whereas the other results on No.2, No.3 and so on have a higher PR… I hope you got the point.
OK, well I still prefer the 4 to the 0.
From what i understand, some weight is given to page rank, however, the bulk of the criteria that determines your position in the search engine results is made up from other factors like number and quality of links among other things.
@ Arthur Trueger, Hi thanks for stopping by. I was wondering are you affiliated with the San Francisco Ballet? I know some dancers. Emma
Congrats on the PR, Emma!
Congratulations!
I went from 0 to 2. A great surprise.
@ YC, Thanks same to you! I really thought I was given a zero, so when I noticed that green bar, I was pretty happy!
@ glf Thanks glf, I was surprised too. Congratulations on yours as well.
Helping and useful ideas and tips for relevant results.
