I’ve recently been learning HTML so that I can have a little more control over my posts. With the advanced visual editor in WordPress and a knowledge of code its possible to make my posts look how ever I want.

However, I’ve also been hearing good things about, Windows Live Writer, so I thought I would check it out. Live Writer does everything you can do with the advanced visual editor in WordPress plus it creates code for you automatically.

If you want a table, so your graphics appear side by side, just click on Insert Table. If you want a video just click on Insert Video, you don’t have to mess with deselecting the visual editor, in your wordpress profile or messing with player plugins.

Speaking of graphics, Live Writer has a built in image editor. You can change layout and borders. You can rotate and even resize graphics without switching to another program.

When you Insert a Hyperlink, you have an option to select no follow. Which could be useful with all the current Google PR shenanigans of late.

Live Writer also tries to mimic your current blog post style to automate posting for you. If only it could write the articles for me as well. Maybe next update.

When it comes to automation having a lot of research gathered up in one place is handy too. Lately I’ve been experimenting with Google News . When you’re in Google News you can create a personalized page with custom searches.

Create custom searches for the topics you’re interested in. Then next time you check Google News there will be articles about the latest on your topic of interest.

You can also do advanced searches and blog searches. If anyone has tips on easier methods for posting or for doing research, I’d love to hear about it. Emma
