Most bloggers are familiar with AdSense and Analytics. As far as searching goes the word Google has become synonymous with the word search. The search engine/advertising company has come a long way since 1998.
Occasionally I’ll check out Google Labs and the services under my account to see what Google has come up with next. I’ve recently been trying to find ways to simplify my research for future articles. I’ve found creating folders in Google reader for different topics can uncover a lot of information.
I also played around with Google Docs, which offers your choice of document, spreadsheet, or presentation application. Besides being free. Web based documents could be useful for accessing documents from any machine and online collaboration.
I also don’t want to forget, Gmail, Feedburner and Google Webmaster tools, which we are all familiar with. But today I tried out a new Google tool. It’s Google Web History. This is a pretty useful tool. You can go back and check out your web history, in case you didn’t bookmark something important. You can also break the history down to specific categories, such as images, video, web, books, etc.
Plus it has a calendar so you can choose the day you’re interested in. Web history can be useful for managing your web activity, finding the most relevant search results, and following trends in our own web activity. For those of us concerned with privacy Google has this information anyway. They are just making it available to us now. But you can clear your history if you are concerned. Here is the Privacy FAQ for Google Web History.
As usual I’d love to hear about what Google tools you find useful. And just for fun here is a screen shot of Google in 1998.
