Remember being a kid in school, slogging through repetitious math problems. "Why do I have to do this? No one uses math in real life!" Most of us who have spent time working on computer projects, home remodels, or our finances realized, that was not true, quite some time ago.

I heard about a program called Mathmatica, and I knew I had to have it. I found an academic version. I still don’t understand Mathmatica, but I am on the Wolfram mailing list. To day I received an email talking about, how Mathmatica was being used, on the hit series Numb3rs.

What’s Numb3rs? Well apparently the 4th season of this show airs tonight. It’s a crime drama series, that uses math to solve crimes. It even stars some pretty well known actors.

Tonight I will be setting the DVR to record Numb3rs. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get inspired to crack open my 5 inch thick Mathmatica book, and learn how to use the program.
