What’s A Sandbox?

I’ve always been a huge fan of “The Apprentice”, I recently discovered an online show called, “The Next Internet Millionaire“. In this show, instead of firing the two least valuable contestants. They have to go to the Sandbox.
I also recently found out about a developmental WordPress template that creates a Sandbox, where you can safely practice making changes to your blog, before making them permanent.
But, the Sandbox I’m interested in, is the Google Sandbox. The Google Sandbox is just a theory. But apparently before getting page rank from Google, a new site needs to gain Google’s trust. Until trust is gained the site is put in the “Sandbox“.
Trust can be gained through time, and creating quality content and backlinks. I recently found a site that will estimate your page rank. When I entered my URL, it said I needed at least 100 backlinks to rank. Then offered to sell me one for 9.95$. No Thanks.
If the Google Sandbox theory is real, I guess it’s not such a bad thing. While Google has you on a page rank timeout. You will have time to tweak your site, create quality content, and generate quality backlinks.
Besides regular quality content, and time. Trust can be built with Google, by getting links from relevant sites, with a high page rank, and getting links, from article directories like Ezine, and legitimate site directories.
It will be nice when I rank so I can generate more search traffic. Instead of my current method of “pounding the pavement“. Talk to you soon, Emma

This was a very helpful and interesting post. I’ve been struggling to make changes on my site and hate that I have to do it in real time because I don’t know html very well and so tend to make mistakes. I’ve been wishing there was a way to do it in a “practice” mode first and just discovered from you that Wordpress has a sandbox. I’m definitely checking that out!

Lynne, let me know how your results are.
I too am struggling with the code issues. I don’t know, but it’s possible, implementing the sandbox may still be a bit advanced for me.
Thanks for stopping by. There’s so much to learn with blogging. At least we won’t run out of things to write about. Emma
