We’ve all seen the iPhone commercial, where with the help of Google, you can map out a restaurant, and get the phone number. You don’t need an iPhone to do this. You can use what ever web enabled device is at hand and go to local.google.com or Google Maps.
To gather information, Google has launched the Business Referral Representative Program. They need people to go to local businesses, and collect information, such as business hours and types of payment taken.
Then take some digital photos, and tell the proprietor about Google Maps and AdWords. Then submit the information and photos. Google will pay 10.00$ for each listing, approved by Google and verified by the business.
I’m half tempted to pound the payment for a week, and see how much extra cash I could make. I don’t have the time. But, I’m sure there will be some enterprising individuals who will make the best of this opportunity.

Yea, we looked into that program too. The problem with it is you only get $2 for the listing and the other $8 if the business confirms the listing via snail mail.
$2/listing is not worth my time, unfortunately. But, if they opened it up to be able to sell them lists of companies for $2 a pop. That, I’d do.

Hey Nate, Thanks for the info. I would think confirming the listing through the web, would be more convenient for the business. Must be some kind of legal issue with Google.
I checked out your site, very cool. I subscribed. Emma
