Well today is day 3 and from checking the stats provided by Dreamhost, I’ve had an average of 800 page requests per day. I’m not sure if these are actual page views, or me trying to post.
As I learn more about stats, I decided to add Google Analytics. Just go to Google and search for analytics and sign up (it’s free). So far so good; then I come to the section of code I’m supposed to cut and paste right before the closing </body> tag of each page I want stats on.
Uh Oh, I get to do some more research….. Well, I found out that this means it would be in the footer of your main page and each additional page you want stats on. Lucky for me I used the Sirius theme in wordpress, which comes with a blank footer area where this code can be added.
After adding the code I need to check to see if it’s actually in the correct spot. So I go back to the main page, click on view source, and yes, the code from Google is found before the </body> tag. So far so good. Now that the installation is complete, I can focus on reading and using the stats. Until next time.
