Here’s a free plug for Helium.com. If your interested in getting some writing practice and a little exposure than Helium may be the place to begin. Once you sign up, you can begin writing on available topics or create (upon approval) your own topics.
The articles are rated by a peer rating system and they move up or down in ranking. Hence, the concept of Helium rising to the top. Also according to page view and an unknown algorithm you get paid. For me it’s been a few cents a day.
But it’s fun watching the cash accumulate. Each time it gets up to 25.00$ you can cash it out into your paypal account. They also have contests where you can earn or win larger cash payouts. And a marketplace where you can match up your writing with offers for paid titles.
It can be addictive and quite time consuming trying to create many quality articles. Although when you take a break the writing does have residual value and the payouts continue to accumulate.
